I Got To Play Golf Today

So in the middle of a pandemic lockdown that has gotten tighter because the numbers have gotten significantly worse, the only thing that had been allowed in the past months is golf. Until this week when my reservation at Altadena was cancelled, because the county suddenly issued a rule that the only people that can play together were people in the same household. WTF? How would THAT work? Would that mean you can only play as a single? Greg and I plotted a way around it by doing exactly that... reserving a tee time as singles and within 10 minutes of each other. When I got to Altadena this morning, the parking lot seemed as busy as it had always been. Lots of people in the driving range, but you could see people in carts waiting to tee off... and they weren't singles. It looked a bit disorganized actually, which is to be expected I guess. I didn't care as long as I got to play. After all, it had turned into a pretty nice day and I couldn't be any happier that I am out here today. As far as the golf I wanted to focus on the usual things: slowing down my swing, getting myself relaxed and controlling my heart rate so I can focus... and focus on positive outcomes. The first two holes were actually pretty strange because we were simply trying to get in front of all these people that were playing really slow. Otherwise we would have been in for a wait. Strange considering you'd think there would be less people playing today. By Hole 3 both Greg and I regained our bearings and actually started playing better. My tee shots started to feel like normal and although I was chipping short all day, at least my fairway shots were pretty ok too. Now if I could only get my putting together... Neither Greg or I kept score today. Neither one of us played exceptionally well but we both had our moments. Which is all one could hope for on a day where you couldn't even get out to play normally. And so I considered it a huge win that we got to go out today and got to play at all. And then we got reservations for next Sunday, hopefully to do the same thing.
So we still got done by 11 AM actually even though we didn't tee off until 9 AM. And I was home by 11:30. I decided to go to Crimson directly to pick up lunch. And in my mind I was giving them a second chance at not blowing my lunch order like they did last week. Again it was such a nice day out I was actually just happy to be hanging out in the sun (see pic). And when I got my lunch I was glad that they got it right. And so I got in a nice lunch AND then got in a nice hour nap. Couldn't have been any more perfect actually. I had such a nice nap that I was actually happy to just chill out on the couch all afternoon. After all walking on the golf course got me at least 3 miles and 8400 steps already before I even had lunch. I was happy to just veg it and watch the LA Rams beat the Cardinals. It wasn't until it was getting dark that I got motivated enough to get up off the couch, and that was only to fold laundry and fix dinner. Dinner tonight was the chicken breasts I bought this past weekend. And I actually figured out how to put them on the grill and keep them tender. I was doing that to make myself a nice fettuccini alfredo chicken dinner tonight. It's kind of a change-of-pace from the ground beef dishes I usually make on a Sunday night. And in the middle of grilling my chicken came an SOS call from Lisa about how to find a movie for Johnnie on Amazon Prime. The encouraging thing there is that Lisa actually IS trying to find videos to watch with him. I don't care that she doesn't watch TV at all. But Johnnie is going to grow up with at least some exposure to contemporary media, be it TV, social media or stuff like that. In fact, I was surprised he just didn't show his mom where to find the videos LOL. And so it was that I had a pretty nice dinner and I almost knocked off at 10 PM just because I ate so much. But somehow I found myself getting caught up in finding some binaural beats videos to watch. Really I wanted to continue the Silva Mind Mastery course I had just found on the web on someone's unprotected G Drive or webserver. But it was already midnight before long. I just let myself drift to sleep on the couch. Weekend is over.
