Johnnie called at 7 AM this morning. That is no typo. And considering I had also binge-watched on the old BBC series Robin Hood until well past 3 AM just to distract myself from my facial condition, you can bet I was really tired when I picked up the phone. They wanted to have breakfast early today. What in the hell? Then again if I wanted to participate in breakfast I'd have to be there by 7:30 says Lisa due to my son being up so early. Apparently he had knocked off really early last night. As in almost 6 PM and slept through the night. I'm sure mommy and son had a pretty tiring day, apparently biking all the way to the McDonald's on Lincoln. Actually, I can't say anything. 7:30 AM is when Johnnie actually eats breakfast when he's staying with me. Of course he'd be hungry right around that time. And so it was that I dragged myself over there, tired as I was and we had breakfast. Not only did I end up eating some of Johnnie's French toast but Lisa also made me an omelette. Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm. And then apparently since Johnnie did NOT take a shower last night. He got to take one this morning. I gave him one in the downstairs bathroom right after breakfast. I can remember when that bathroom was the only working bathroom this house had when we first moved in LOL. Now it has all this foo-foo shampoo and body wash. And so it was I gave Johnnie a shower even though he was adamant that he wanted to take a shower with mommy. Not this morning my son. And then right afterwards I watched him and let Lisa practice piano for about an hour. Lisa asked us to water her plants in the planter in the front yard, which was another thing I used to do all the time. Water the planter plants. She had all kinds of salads in there. Doesn't she know it needs a heck of a lot more water than a little dribble in the morning? Anyway I watered them and while Johnnie and I were doing that, the former occupants/renters of the Pablo's house next door walked by. It was Simon and his baby brother and their mom. And of course she had to come in and chat with Lisa. They would do yoga together I thought. Of course Simon had to come in and play with Johnnie. They used to do that when they lived next door. Of course both boys are bigger now but play is play. Actually I was glad Johnnie got to play with another kid his age. Or at least close to it. I think that is healthy and something not even a Zoom meeting can replace. By 11 AM Lisa decided to go on a walk with them with the 2 boys bringing their bikes. Which was my cue to go home actually. I needed a nap big time. But hey I got to spend a few hours with Johnnie. That will carry me the rest of the weekend.
I didn't expect to come back to Lisa's tonight. That's because she said Courtney was supposed to be coming over. Which was perfectly ok with me. I've had my time with Johnnie today. I picked up a teriyaki salmon bowl from Whole Foods, which I had for lunch. And then tried to take a nap. But I simply couldn't knock off. Maybe it was because I kept the TV on and I ended up watching some more Robin Hood episodes. What is it with me and movies and shows about medieval England? The Last Kingdom, now this. I did lie down and close my eyes for a bit and to tell you the truth, it was actually fine when I was at Lisa's this morning. Not the numbness, that's still there. But I didn't need my drops so much. Maybe today it was because I was watching TV so much but my right eye got sore most of the afternoon. I am not at all apologizing for not doing much of anything this afternoon. Hey, it the root cause of the facial numbness is stress and anxiety then doesn't it make sense to just relax and chill? I didn't worry at all about getting anything done. Except of course my steps. And so I finally did make it out of the apartment by late afternoon and took my late afternoon/ early evening walk around my neighborhood. I really do like my neighborhood. I better. I signed on for another year in this apartment and extended my least. How can I not when my rent didn't go up. That was the best that I could expect in fact. And so it was that I was already close to 9000 steps even with the late start by 7 PM. And then I FINALLY took a shower which I hadn't done in almost 3 days. I'm sure I was starting to smell a bit gamey by now. Felt good to feel clean again. For dinner I decided to make my beef stew in the Instant Pot. So easy to do. Beef is already pre-cut from Ralphs. The rest was all vegetables. Just cutting celerty, carrots, onions and potatoes. Stick all in the pot, with the beef stew mixture sauce already pre-made. Turn on pressure cooker. 24 minutes later all done. And by then I had finished the rest of my 11,000 steps. Averaging that for this week turns out to be a cinch, and gives me hope about the facial stuff since not even 2 weeks ago, my legs were still sore from walking with Lisa and Johnnie at the pond in Marina del Rey. Hopefully in 2 weeks or less I'll be saying the same thing about the right side of my face. In the meantime, i watched some more Robin Hood and tried to get to bed as early as I could. After all, no closures tomorrow thank God. We're trying once again for golf at Roosevelt. Fingers crossed...
