Biden Wins

Finally I woke up this morning and I'm in the middle of making my Earl Grey hot tea for breakfast I turned on the TV and saw the chryon on the bottom: Joe Biden 273 votes. Wait, what? That means he passed the 270 threshold didn't he? I switched to CNN and indeed, they had called Pennsylvania to Biden. Which meant they finally called the election to Biden! YEAH! Biden won! Biden won! After almost 4 agonizing days of watching votes get counted like watching paint drying on the wall, and if you're a Trump supporter, it's like death by 1000 cuts, it's finally over. Of course Trump didn't concede. No one expected him to. He said he was going to fight this in court, he's going to request recounts here and there. Can someone p-l-e-a-s-e explain to him that the math can't work for him. He can overturn 1000 votes and he still won't win. That's because he's behind by 20,000 in this state, 40,000 in this state, and so on. Does he really think he can get the Supreme Court to overturn this on some technicality? <Of course he does> But who cares about him now? Now, he's shortly going to become an afterthought thank God. And so I went on over to Lisa's to have breakfast. Even though I had already had a bagel and my hot tea. She was making pancakes from scratch and I do appreciate the effort she's putting in. That's her style. Mine is to get pancakes from McDonald's. LOL. As it turned out Johnnie ate only a piece. He never tells his mom he doesn't like the food she gave him. Not like he does to me. It only means I'm going to need to give him a pretty substantial lunch, and early too. Anyway off we went with a list of 3 items to get from the store. And since I was out this way I went to Marukai first. Still no japchae, but at least there was that fresh udon that Lisa likes for Johnnie and of course I had to get some gyu-don. And since I was already out here, might as well make a stop at Ralphs on Olympic too. By the time we got out of Ralphs it was already almost 11:30. Might as well pick up Johnnie's lunch at Panda Express. WE finally made it back to the house close to noon and Johnnie had the treat of eating his teriyaki chicken while watching the real Jurassic World. Look at him in the picture absolutely transfixed LOL. Hey at least we got to spend a few hours together today right? I took him back to Lisa's house after lunch and that would be it for the weekend. I gave her the invite to Ooops for dinner but she didn't take it and that was ok. It is her birthday tomorrow and I wanted her to know I did remember. So much so Johnnie and I even picked up some flowers for her at Ralphs. Hey it's something. I don't think she cared one way or the other, she never did all those years we were together. She just got more than a little wiggy on her birthday every single year for whatever reason. And as long as I offered, that was good enough for me. I was good to go, accepted or not.
On my way back home I saw that a few of her neighbors had spontaneously started a little dance party on the street, of course celebrating the Biden win. When I went home and turned on the TV, it appeared that celebrations had started in every major metro city. Atlanta. Detroit. Milwaukee. Philadelphia. NYC. Times Square was bustling again. And of course DTLA. There were reports of church bells ringing in Paris. And fireworks in London. Oh yeah we're going to celebrate. The Trump era is done. He's FIRED. To be clear, this was not quite the celebration that it was in Chicago the night Obama got elected the first time. But it was pretty darn close. And so of course I had to wait and watch the victory speech. Kamala Harris was speaking too. The first female VP in US History, the highest elected female position to date yet. And she's black, and Indian too. Hmm, maybe this IS just as historic as the Obama victory was after all. What I liked about Joe Biden speech was that he spoke of uniting the country. We need that very, very badly. He spoke of not treating our opponents as our enemies. They're Americans. We all are, he said. Let's see if THEY will take the olive branch. They're all pretty steamed right about now so perhaps a little space is appropriate. But nothing is going to stop OUR celebrating. This completes my trifecta. First the Lakers, then the Dodgers, and then Joe Biden. Win-win-win. Cha-ching. Now comes the hard part... Certain dramatics for the next few weeks. But hey we made it this long, we can survive another few weeks of bullshit. It's all good now.
