Finally...Movement

So all eyes of the nation, and probably a great deal of the world continues to be on the ongoing vote count of our elections. It had never taken this long to call a winner. But at least non-Trumpers could take solace that now the numbers had solidified in Joe Biden's favor. Georgia flipped to him last night and now his lead is extending, as did Pennsylvannia with lots more votes in the heavily Democratic suburban areas left to count. Nevada too had solidified and extended his lead.  And so by the time I checked Decision Desk HQ, which I had been checking regularly because it seemed to have numbers in advance of the major cable networks, had called PA for Biden. And that meant they had called the election! IT.IS.OVER! The cable networks, and I mean all of them, were still acting like things were still too tight to call. That may be true, but they had called states on much thinner margins before. I think they were just afraid of the wrath of the Republicans, or milking this thing along for ratings. Or both. We want to get it right, they said. Ok Ok, I guess I can wait a few hours. Not that Trump would concede anyway. He has always telegraphed what he was going to do. He's going to litigate and drag this thing through the mud. And his supporters actually LIKE that. The disruption. The chaos. I don't understand it, but is it really any different than trying to understand someone as fundamentally different as myself, like, say, Lisa? Hey we did manage to do great things when we were working side-by-side and playing like we were on the same team didn't we? Hmmm...

And so I could at least take a deep breath out. To me, the good guys had won, the bad guys had lost. And now at least I could try to go on with my usual Friday. I'm not going to lie I had pretty much tanked the last 3 days and now I have a pile of work to do. Back to reality means facing the fact that I am about to lose the best Data Analyst we've had and I need to replace him fast. And so I met with HR in the middle of the day to figure out a game plan. And then of course I have all these little things I have to do. A Compliance course here, invoices to approve there, blah blah blah. At least it IS Friday and if I should tank the rest of the day it wouldn't be so bad. The tough part about tanking the middle of the week is that it IS that much harder to pick it up on a FRIDAY! I mean I was already in a lazy mood and today it was hard to just motivate myself to cook breakfast. I did manage to take a shower but I had to go to McDonald's to pick up a sausage Mcmuffin. Same with lunch. With all the food I could cook in the fridge I opted to go to Burger King for an Impossible Whopper and some tacos. Hey I'm allowed to indulge aren't I? I'm allowed to feel lazy. In the afternoon we had the FRB monthly birthday party thing which had devolved into singing Happy Birthday over Zoom and then doing this online puzzle. That one took approximately a half hour to do. Still it's nice to be on a Zoom call that had very little seriousness to it whatsoever. And it made me feel close to my team no matter how temporary. After the call, the day and the week was now officially over and Lisa called to ask me to come over for dinner around 5-ish and to bring some protein. Tonight I decided to bring a cooked turkey breast. I actually beat Lisa to her house as she had stopped by the pet store to get some crickets for the gecko. I wish I would have caught the loud cricket in my kitchen. It would have made a pretty good meal.  And so with the turkey all done, all Lisa had to do was to make the vegetables. And she made the cabbage and onion side dish. It would have taken a lot longer to make rice and so I told her it's ok if we didn't have any. Besides, Johnnie was going to eat pasta with red sauce and I had a pretty strong feeling he wasn't going to eat all of what Lisa prepared. That will end up being my carbs later LOL LOL. And so it was that we had another Friday night dinner together and then afterwards Lisa retired to the piano room to do her practice. After doing the dishes I turned my attention to Johnnie and he and I actually spent almost an entire half hour jostling and wrestling and doing horseplay on the couch.  This kid is getting much stronger now and he actually has me all tired after a while. So much so I had him clean up his toys in the living room while I made him hot chocolate. By the time Lisa got done she had been playing almost an hour and 45 minutes. And she was tired. Hey I did my part. I brought turkey and watched Johnnie for almost 2 hours. And I was home before 9 PM.  And back to watching the election count. And still Biden's lead keeps getting larger for all the states in play. And still the networks didn't call the election. Not just yet. I guess it won't be happening tonight.
