Finally Getting The Holidays Behind Me

And so it's Friday and I am fully aware now that I have a week off next week. And so just like the good procrastinator that I am, now that I am at the finish line, NOW I'm geared up for a sprint. And sprint I did. By mid-morning I had completed my TO-DOs for Eloisa's Admin Operations list. That would be the President's Report and updating my goals for the 2nd Quarter. Doing that makes me realize that the fiscal year is half over too. I also finished my Meeting Notes for the Tech Council from last month. And then there was one more thing I needed to do this morning: I needed to start taking the Christmas decoration off my door. That was the symbolic end-of-the-holidays act in my mind. I'm glad it's over too. And I'm glad there are 2 short weeks coming up in addition to my vacation. That would be those 3-day weekends in mid-January and mid-February. Anyway I continued the momentum of filling out the Expenses spreadsheet that I started yesterday and got a whole bunch of TO.DOs out to my IS Team. They must have thought I was on a rampage or something. Especially poor Kennedy when I lit him up on a mistake he did with the project he's working with Greg on. They're doing their best but I am also trying to impart to Greg how localized their thinking is and that they need to think more globally which is why I'm around and Art, Greg's boss is around. Not our first rodeo. We'd be able to sniff and see potential mistakes coming from a mile away. But that also needs to be balanced with how you want to empower your guys so they are motivated. A fine balance that is. Unlike yesterday I was well into the early afternoon and I hadn't once checked YouTube, hadn't once worked on my journal, hadn't done any personal stuff really. So you see, it CAN be done. It's really just a matter of motivation isn't it? That and knowing I won't need to see any work all of next week. The one thing i didn't do though was that since I barely left my office all day, I had only done one round of Nitric Oxide exercises and had barely gotten any steps in all day long. So there's always a trade-off. And that balance always requires work and attention. By r PM I had finished all the timesheets even and I had really only one thing on my To-Do I hadn't touched yet. That would be Kennedy's 120-day review. And THAT I could always do away from home, so that was lowest on the priority of priorities :)
By 4 PM even Faith had swung by to wish me a good vacation. That I promise to have even though I hadn't even started planning what we were going to do all week. That I'll just figure out as I go although I won't tell Lisa that LOL. As soon as I got home I went right back out and walked to Whole Foods. I went the long way too, first going to Mar Vista park at it's most southeastern point and then all the way around and to Whole Foods using the back way. I had logged more than 2 miles by the time I got my stuff from there, and then I walked on home. I went from 3200 steps to 8500 with just that one walk. And then I ate leftover beef stew from last night for dinner. It's funny how much food you can make in that one Instant Pot that could last for at least 2 meals! And I still have chicken marsala from the weekend that I don't feel like eating anymore! I spent Friday night watching the Lakers beat up on the Pelicans. It looks like they're back to their winning ways. If anything that game showed exactly WHY you would trade for Anthony Davis for 3 young players and a whole bunch of draft picks. The guys scored 46 points pretty much effortlessly and they're winning 80% of their games. They are at 28-7 so far. so far so good. The other thing I watched was the final few episodes of the series Messiah on Netflix. I binged watched on it last night which made me not go to bed until almost 2 AM and I'm kicking myself about that. The plotline is sort of an answer to the question: What happens if Jesus Christ came right now instead of 2000 years ago? In the world of social media and real time consumption of news and with all the politics surrounding evderthing. It is interesting to say the least. Of course there's the intelligence community that is digging up truths, there is a shot at the Bible Belt in Texas with how Christianity is practiced, and all along the way the various complexities of personalities and the imperfections of us all that make up the tapestry. The series asks the question: B.u.t  i.s  h.e  r.e.a.l? I think the Evangelical right is going to have a field day on this one. Will people watch it? I don't know. But I do know that i did. And because I did last night I found myself knocking off to sleep before 11 PM tonight, tired as I was and trying to catch up on sleep. But hey Johnnie is back tomorrow and my vacation has officially started hasn't it?! All. is.  good!
