The problem with having little sleep the night before going to work is obviously that you're already tired going IN to work. I had an excuse the Sunday that Kobe Bryant had the fatal accident. Today no such excuses. I just watched movies. And now it looks like I'm going to be paying for that all day. At least it's a nice day out. Much nicer than anticipated actually. So much so I had to take my jacket off even while outside. It ended up being almost mid-70s in downtown LA [hence the picture] and I obviously had to take advantage by taking a walk out later on in the day. A stark contrast to this time last year when it was raining almost every day until the end of February. The good thing was that I actually got some nice first-things-first meditation done when I woke up today. Got my affirmations in playing with theta frequencies in the background. Let's see if that works any different. Let's see if that works at all. By the afternoon today I mustered up enough energy to forget that I got barely 4 hours of sleep last night. It was really simple today actually... focus on those TO-DO items that my boss outlined for me and then do the IS-Clinical Ops meeting. That one I simply reached out for the energy of having already created massive value and so I was engaged and I actually was able to knock off some items that were pending. No surprises, no pokes, no pings. It was actually me that brought up a couple of new items. And I pulled those out of my butt believe me LOL. Maybe that first-thing-in-the-morning meditation worked after all! The walk outside was sort of the "celebration" that I got my work done for the day and now I got to enjoy the sun. Besides I knew I had to pad my step stats early today. Although I never did hear from her, I know the scheduling patterns of Lisa's Monday soccer league. And if she played the late game last week, which she did, then she gets to play the early game tonight. That would be 7:15 PM and so I need to pick up Johnnie earlier than usual. Again, I didn't hear from Lisa but I knew already. And so by the time I got back to the office I had already knocked off 7000 steps. Cool! And brought Faith back a vanilla latte too, doing my good deed for the day :)
By the time I got around to heading over to Lisa's to pick up Johnnie at 6:30PM, I was already close to 10,000 steps, I had barbecued my new favorite yakitori style chicken in the community patio area and I had gotten Johnnie's penne pasta ready for the week. I was all set. Johnnie was excited to see me as always. So excited in fact that he may have hurt his mom's feelings showing just how much. She mentioned as much. I had to soothe that by saying he was the same on Thursday nights when he waits for her to pick him up. Not really true of course but why not douse the negative emotional flames if I can? Which is why she always says to him "have fun but not too much fun" as her parting words. I have to translate it as: "Have fun, but since I can't be with you when you're having fun, don't have too much fun without me". She forgets to mention the "or my feelings would get hurt" part. And that's ok. I have no intention of hurting her feelings. But the sooner we got out of her house the better too. I know we still have to talk about the weekend. It's a 3-day weekend but Lisa has that surgery she's doing Friday and so I could potentially have Johnnie for one of the days even though it isn't my turn. Hey whatever time I get with him I'll take. At least mommy and son got to eat dinner tonight together. Of course when he got to my house he asked for a treat. Not one mind you... he knows how much I keep. And then I got him to eat one of those croissants he helped me make. Hey, they're filled with chocolate aren't they? He watched Pete the Cat and Valentine's Day and read Pete the Cat has hiccups - the easy reader book. And of course he had Frozen on his mind still so I had to play him the video playlist of the Frozen 2 songs. Those are starting to grow on me as well. So I felt we had a pretty productive evening. Hey I was ready to go to sleep early tonight anyway. Didn't I mention I barely had a few hours of sleep last night? I couldn't wait until 9 PM to get him started with his shower although he was still very much in high-energy mode at that time. I didn't get him to watch enough videos to slow him down any at all. Still shower done at 9:30 PM. Three little pigs and lights out by 9:45 PM. Monday night out.
