First Day of April

So normally, April 1 is April Fools Day and a very light and frivolous feeling day. Not today. This morning the goal was to get Johnnie fed and dressed and off to his mom's by 8:30 AM. That's because I agreed to let him stay with her during my busy days, which I thought would normally be a Wednesday. But last week, Wednesday wasn't all that busy, Tuesday was. And today I didn't really think that I was going to be busy enough so that I needed Johnnie out of my hair. I actually would rather have him IN my hair. Especially when I dropped him off and found out from Lisa that she was going to have a "CE class" party today at her house with at least one of her staff. Immediately I thought "what the heck about social distancing does she not understand??". And when I asked out loud, she just shrugged it off. I mean if she's going to be doing CE classes, then for sure she's not going to be paying much attention to Johnnie isn't she? Then why am I dropping him off? I was totally conflicted as I drove back to the apartment and clearly there is still some tension or negative energy between Lisa and I. But I didn't have to deal with it right then and there. I do have to do some cleaning and clearing obviously. And so I went about my work morning. Zoom meeting here, lots of email exchanges, took a picture of my walk outside to break the monotony. Hey it wasn't like I didn't take walks when I was at the FRB. Just that now I do it more frequently and I do it more intentionally. Third week in and I am definitely starting to settle on a routine. Even cooking at lunch is now part of the routine. And today I did the beef yakisoba thing which is this week's favorite. I did have a phone meeting at 2 PM and I ended up actually walking to Staples after lunch to pick up some earbuds for my phone. I fully expected to pick up Johnnie as early as I could based on this morning. As in before 4 PM so I could actually DO my 4 PM meeting. Hence I was expecting to do the 4 PM meeting in the car. But as it were, my 2 PM meeting got done well before 3 and I picked up Johnnie at 3:45. There he was sitting on Lisa's lap while she and her dental assistant were doing a CE class outside. No 6 ft separation. I swear sometimes she simply does not think. I got Johnnie and I outta there and back to the apartment, parked him in front of a Miffy video and did my 4 PM call...
Tonight is Panda Express night. I made the online order even before I ended my Huddle at 5 PM. And off we went immediately after. They must have recognized my order because I got a note on Johnnie's kid's meal telling us they missed us. Awww. We miss them too. Johnnie wanted to reciprocrate and wrote up a note of his own and wanted to give it to them the next time we went over. Probably not until next week though. We've only been going to the Westwood Panda Express for more than a year, almost every Wednesday and some Saturdays. This is part of our routine. And so it was that daddy-and-son had their usual Wednesday night Panda Express dinner albeit at home and in front of the TV. I don't know what Johnnie did all day at Lisa's house but I know he didn't finish his lessons for the day. Lisa told me as much. To be fair she was doing her CE classes. Or so I think. Not to worry... he did his lessons tonight. We are not going to be behind before we talk to Ms Gee and his classmates for the Zoom call tomorrow morning. He did manage to get lots of play time still. Look at him in the pic playing outside my door. I made him make a dinosaur from leaves. That one exercise wiped out an entire hour. See? This isn't so bad. And then he wanted to keep on drawing right after that. And so I kept his screen time within the hour limit tonight and even then he was much more interested in horse playing with me. I do this only because when he gets just a bit bigger, I won't be able to do it with him anymore, at least not without me getting hurt LOL. In the meantime, I had other fleeting thoughts. The first of the month is usually rent day. I paid mine a few days ago and I am NOT one of those affected by the stay-at-home order and I get to keep getting paid as I still work. Lisa is very much one of the ones that are in worry-uncertainty group as she does not know how she keeps on paying her lease on her office if she doesn't bring in any income. Lots of solutions supposedly being enacted by the government. But most don't get enacted until Friday the 3rd. Heck most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck now anyway. And I give out a HUGE THANK YOU and a huge outpour of gratitude that the Universe has had my back and I have plenty not just for the now but for the foreseeable future. And I've got to say I don't know that I would want to go back to the office now that I've gotten almost a 3-week taste of working from home. Anyway though it's hump-day Wednesday, it's been uneventful for a change and I think I get to breathe out for the next couple of days through the weekend. Ahhh….
