A Nice Warm Day Today
And so today is April 15, normally tax day. IF things were normal. But that has been postponed to July. Normal or not, it still is Tech Council Meeting day today. Which is why I still took Johnnie to Lisa's house first thing this morning so she could watch him for the day. I made it clear I was coming by at 3:30PM to pick him up. It was barely 8:45 AM and it was already warmer than usual today, which was a most welcome change from the rains we had all week long last week and from the colder-than-usual last couple of days. See the pic of me hanging out in my :backyard: enjoying the nice morning. Of course I can do that only because I had gotten caught up and I felt good about today. I had TWO points of attention today: my Tech Council meeting AND the all-Hands Town Hall meeting late in the afternoon. As far as the Tech Council Meeting, it was all about showing metrics and statistics on utilization of technology now that we have been remote working for an entire month now. It's funny that now that I've shown that we've adapted, I was able to pause and ponder how I've adapted too. I'm working more now I think, only because there is no more time required to get dressed and drive to work. And the perception is that my computer is always on so i get and i respond to all kinds of messages at whatever times. It's like the lines of when work starts and stops has blurred. With that said, I haven't done much laundry and I love the fact that I haven't washed any shirts, socks, and not much underwear either. On the other hand, I am washing dishes almost 3 times a day, even when I pick something up to eat. On one hand, I'm eating in more, cooking in more. On the other hand, I really miss eating out too even if I seem to be spending way less on food. As far as work I was able to show that my team is even busier in the past month if not just to configure laptops and devices to issue to people. And it was good that Eloisa my boss hailed the IS TEAM as heroes for enabling remote work to get done. I'm sure my team really ate that up. No such pats on the back from me for my team. They are simply doing their job as far as I'm concerned. And they best be. And so I can say that the 4 PM all Hands meeting went off pretty much without a hitch as well. That's two balls out of the park today :) About the only thing that caused a negative stir with me was Lisa when I picked up Johnnie. She was a little perturbed that it took her all day to do Johnnie's lesson. I did NOT mention that the reason THAT happens is that SHE, the teacher was distracted. I know by observation that if you simply leave JOhnnie alone, he will skate through his lessons in no time no problem. And it was clear that Lisa was still distracted by her office being closed and once again was focused on not getting paid and not making any money. No sense encouraging her when that happens. You do that and she will take it the wrong way. Which is what happened today. I told her not to worry and things will work out her way one way or other. That did NOT help. In fact what I got back was that it was easy for me to say since I'm still getting paid and there was no difference in my finances. I snapped and told her to just be glad she's alive. And walked out of there with Johnnie. Seriously I am tired of blowing smoke up her ass and getting blasted simply because she is a natural worrywart. I don't WANT to deal with any of that from her and I will NOT bother to adjust my speech, or my behavior, or anything else. I'm NOT going to let her fuck up my day. I did my 4 PM meeting and then Johnnie and I headed off to Panda Express for our usual Wednesday night dinner. I enjoyed my mushroom chicken today. Sad that there's no more green beans and chicken but I'll take the mushroom one too. I enjoyed Wednesday night even more than usual today because the day went by so well at work. And when I went through my list from this morning (my INTENTION LIST), I had a check on everything. All was good.
